2008 STREET STOCK RULES

GENERAL

This is a production division, unless specifically listed below as an allowable modification; you may not change or modify the car parts in ANYWAY.

 

CAR ELIGIBLITY

1950 and newer American made passenger cars or trucks. No convertibles. Minimum wheel base 108”. No Super Stocks Allowed.

 

BODY

Bodies must remain stock with no lowering or gutting of roof posts. Body must retain all OEM measurements. Roof may be removed for aiding of cage installation but must be welded back in stock location. Hood, front fenders, trunk lid, doors, and roof may have the inner structure removed leaving only outer sheet metal. If said panels are gutted proper body bracing is required per tech inspector’s determination. Fenders and quarter panels may be trimmed (if not excessive) to remove rust out and to provide clearance for tires & wheels. Bumpers must be welded or bolted securely in place. Must use factory outer shell, may be gutted.  Bumper ends must be capped and have supplemental attachments to the fenders which prevents the hooking of bumpers. OEM or aftermarket plastic nose cover allowed providing stock appearance is maintained. 4” minimum front air dam height. All glass to be removed and windshield replaced with Lexan and a minimum of two braces required. Rear window not required but if used must also be Lexan and have a minimum of two braces. All body panels to be OEM or Replacement only, no homemade panels. All body panels must be steel, absolutely no aluminum body panels !!  Rocker Panels, Engine and Trunk Firewall to remain as stock. Floors may be removed and replaced with sheet steel. Driveshaft tunnel will be of heavy gauge steel to protect from driveshaft coming through. Trunk floor may be removed as far forward as centerline of rear axle. Holes in firewalls must be covered with 20 Gauge steel only, NO ALUMINUM!! Rub rails are optional and if used will be 1" X 1" tubing capped at both end which are to be @ 45 Degree angles. Body to match frame, no intermingling of body to frame combinations. Rear spoiler to be no larger than 5" X 60".

 

STRIPPING AND GUTTING

All flammable materials, including carpets, pads and door panels must be removed from interior trunk. Seat must be changed to racing seat. All exterior trim including lights, body moldings, door handles, mirrors, ect. must be removed. All glass must be removed and be replaced by Lexan. Center braces required with Lexan window. Air conditioner compressors, smog pumps, excess wiring, wiper motors, heater and air conditioning boxes and coils may be removed; holes left in firewall must be covered. Driver’s compartment must be separated by complete metal firewalls from engine and trunk compartments. Doors must be bolted, strapped, or welded shut. Hood and trunk must be secured with hood pins only. No other latching devices allowed. Body mounting bushing material is unlimited, stock dimensions must be maintained.

 

ROLLCAGES

Minimum 4 point roll cage is required. Cages should be installed, and constructed so the Halo Bar is higher than drivers head. 1 3/4" - .095 tube required. Cage must be mounted to frame. A minimum of three door bars are required. A steel door plate must be installed on the outside of the driver’s door bars to completely cover the door opening and be a minimum of 1/8" thick. Door bar plate must match door bars contour. No boxing or reinforcing frame in any way other than welding roll cage to frame rails. X-Bar between frame rails is allowed. Radiator mounting hoop allowed no support in front of radiator. It is your responsibility to construct a cage assembly capable of protecting you from injury. If running a uni-body car you may connect front and rear stubs with rectangular steel tube. It will be the Track Officials determination on safety of roll cages.

 

TIRES AND WHEELS

Maximum 8” wide rims. Minimum clean wheel weight: 17 lbs. No aluminum or mag wheels. Racing rims mandatory. No bleeders allowed. Rim & or tire may not extend outside the body. 5/8 Studs and 1” lug nuts required. Track Approved Tire Only.  No wheel weights allowed. No tire softener or tire treatments allowed. Track may claim any illegal tires at any given time if found being used during event. Track will determine a minimum durometer reading for said tires.

 

BATTERIES

Steel to steel tie downs required. Batteries must be mounted in passenger compartment relatively close behind driver’s seat and must be in a plastic case sufficient to hold the entire acid content of the battery in case of rollover. Dry cell batteries are strongly recommended.

 

ENGINE

Maximum displacement of 358 C.I. for Chevy, Crysler 368 C.I., Ford 359 C.I. No mixing of engine manufacturer and body manufacturer ( GM to GM, Ford to Ford, Etc.)Engine mounts may be solid but bolted in stock location. Stock cast iron block, heads are required. All engine parts must remain in their original “as cast” configuration. Flat top pistons only. No part of piston may protrude above the cylinder deck. Fords must use 351 Windsor block and heads. Stock cast iron intakes only with Holley 4412 or stock Quadrajet.  Allowable modification to carb is removal of choke plate and choke rod.  No marine intakes. Carb spacing not to exceed 1 1/4" (including gaskets) from intake flange surface to carb base surface. One engine movement limiter (cable, chain, or rod) may be installed. (HEADS) NO aftermarket, stock only.  No angle milling of heads allowed. Maximum Valve size to be 2.02 intake & 1.94 exhaust on Chevy. Vortex heads are allowed. Screw in rocker studs & pushrod guide plates are allowed.  Rocker arms must retain stock ratio (1.5 on SB Chevy). No aftermarket or roller type rockers allowed. Must retain stock style hydraulic or solid lifters, no roller lifters allowed. Crank must match block.  Balancing of internal components is allowed. Aftermarket rods allowed but length must be maintained as OEM. Aftermarket rods must maintain OEM press fit wrist pins. A 3/4” inspection plug must be drilled in the side of the pan in line with crankshaft journal and ID number. Plug must be easily accessible and crew /driver must be able to remove when required. Stock ignition systems only.

 

TRANS & REAR AXLE

Stock automatic as manufactured, and delivered, with working forward and reverse. A trans cooler may be added but must be under hood located between fan and firewall. A driveshaft hoop of  steel 1” wide is required. Driveshaft to be painted white. Rear axle may be open, factory limited slip or locked no aftermarket limited slip or ratchet styles allowed. Any ratio allowed. Moser engineering OEM replacement axle shaft allowed. GM cars may run Ford 9" housing.

 

WEIGHTS

All cars will be a minimum of 3200 Lbs with no less than 40% right side weight. Cars with a wheelbase of less than 110" (not including 110") must weight a minimum of 1800 Lbs across the front.   Weight added to the car must be painted white, clearly marked with the car number, and securely fastened to a protected portion of the car with a minimum of two grade 5, 1/2" bolts. Absolutely no threaded rod allowed for weight fastening.  Weight buyback is $2.00/ Lb.

 

BRAKES

Stock, all components must match said make & model and must be capable of locking all 4 wheels independently. Stock proportioning valves only. Rear drum brakes only. No drilled rotors, no aluminum drums. No lightening of any brake components. No cooling devices or brake recirculators allowed.  No adjustable brake bias units allowed. Rusted brake lines and cracked or damaged brake hoses are to be replaced with new or visually good components.

 

EXHAUST

A complete leak free, tight exhaust system with a maximum size of  3" o.d. must be run from the engine to an area behind the driver and must incorporate (1 or 2 depending on system) approved mufflers.  “H” pipes or Stock Y pipe allowed, no other 2 into 1 systems. Only stock cast iron exhaust manifolds. No Center dump exhaust manifolds.  No external or internal grinding or porting of exhaust manifolds allowed. Stock heat risers may be removed. Exhaust must be secured to car and may not come in contact with the racing surface -- if this happens repairs will need to be made before said car is allowed to return to competition. Exhaust should exit under car and end in front of rear axle with turn down outlets. Decibel rule of 98 will be enforced.

 

STEERING AND SUSPENSION

Stock only. Absolutely no modifications. Maximum sway bar size 1.250”. Sway bar must utilize stock frame mounts but may be adjustable on the lower control arm ends. Front control arm bushing material is unrestricted stock dimensions required (No Heim Style Joints). Rear control arm bushings limited to non-offset rubber or urethane only stock dimensions required. Minimum ground clearance 4 1/2 " measured anywhere on the car including body with driver in car. Ride attitude must be maintained. Any spring rate is allowed. Any steering wheel allowed, stock column not required. Steering Quickners will be allowed. Rear screw jacks will be allowed. Stock steel shocks or stock replacement steel shocks only. No heim style shocks allowed.

 

COOLING SYSTEM

Any radiator allowed which will fit in stock location. Stock style belt driven water pumps only. V-belt systems only. 180-degree fan shroud required. Minimum one-gallon overflow required mounted in engine compartment. Blow off hose to exit by lower right corner of windshield. Water only in radiator, no antifreeze. Water Wetter or Freezer style additives are allowed.

 

FUEL TANKS

Fuel Cells are required.  16 gallon maximum. Full foam baffle required. Fuel cell must be contained in fuel cell container, no boat tanks. Cell must be securely fastened to the trunk floor or frame with a minimum of two, 1” by 1/6” straps in each direction, bolted through the floor using doublers plates or installed in a safely constructed frame. Cells shall not be mounted within 10” of the rear panel or extend beyond the frame rails. No bottom draw tanks.  Fuel cells minimum height is to be no lower than 11” measured from slab. All fuel lines must be steel or steel reinforced and not be run through the driver’s compartment of the car. Fuel Cell protection bar required. Fuel fillers must be located inside the trunk compartment.

 

PAINT AND NUMBERS

No spray bomb numbers. Numbers must be neat appearing and at least 18” high on both doors. If your number is a duplicate, officials may assign an initial to your number.

3" number also to be placed in upper right hand corner of windshield.

 

SEAT

Aluminum racing seats only with mandatory right side headrest and left side headrest or Burton net. Seats must be mounted to the roll bars and not thru the floor boards. Seat must have proper padding and cover. Seat must fit driver.

 

SEAT BELTS

5 Point harness mounted to roll cage. Must have tags and be no older than 3 years old.

 

HELMET

Snell 2000 Rated helmet with no defects required. Neck braces required unless using Hans or Hutchin's system.

 

WINDOW NETS

Window nets are mandatory. Must have quick release latch that is accessible from the outside as well as the inside of the car.

 

FIRESUITS, GLOVES, & GOGGLES

Driving suit , gloves, and eye protection are all required.

 

IGNITION KILL SWITCH

Must be accessible from outside the car. Preferably located in the center of the dash so that it is accessible from the right side of the car as well.

 

TOW HOOKS

A secure towing device (hook, ect.) MUST be in place both front and rear. Securely fastened and located so as not to present a hazard in the event of contact.

 

RUBRAIL

If used, side rub rails must be maximum 1” square tube. Must have 45 degree capped ends. Must be securely mounted no further than 1” from end of rub rail.

 

SPOILERS

Spoiler may be stock or fabricated and no larger than 5” X 60".

 

RADIOS

No radios are allowed.

 

ADDITIONAL NOTES

In certain situations rules may be relaxed depending on the nature of rule variance. Any visiting car that does not conform to the above stated rules but is classified at another track as a Street Stock style car or truck will be required to furnish the track with a current copy of their rules and a determination will be made on eligibility to race. There will be no mixing of rules, you either conform to your entire rule book or you will not be allowed to compete. The track reserves the right to confiscate any found illegal parts from any car or truck. Use your better judgment, if you are unsure about a rule interpretation; do not assume you are right. Take the time to call the track and ask questions. Track officials interpretation of a rule is the final say, it is not up for debate!!!

 

WEIGHT PENALTIES

Track reserves the right to add weight for competition purposes or for rule infractions not listed.

 

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

All drivers that wish to be eligible for overall points / points fund or sponsor product are required to race at least 75% of all scheduled events. Top Ten In Points Eligible For points Fund Money. Any driver attending banquet is eligible for contingency product. In the event a sponsor requires a sticker to be placed on each car, the sticker will be furnished to the driver.  Full participation also includes the Race Banquet at the end of the season. The banquet is for driver recognition. No point’s money or trophies will be awarded to those not meeting these requirements. These events are to help promote involvement in your sport.
