2010 Rules for All Divisions Now Available

Wausau, WI January 6, 2010 –State Park Speedway is proud to announce its racing classes for the 2010 season.  Drivers can find rules for their division at www.stateparkspeedway.com.

On Thursday nights at SPS fans will see a variety of classes and also some new classes on the ¼ mile track in Wausau.  “We took a lot of time to look at different rules and different classes and decide which will be the best for State Park Speedway in 2010,” says Owner Scott Wimmer, “It was a tough decision for us, but I think the line-up we will provide on Thursday nights will be exciting for both drivers and fans.”

State Park Speedway will once again host super late model racing.  The rules for this year’s super late model division are based off the ASA Midwest Tour rules.  Fans can see exciting side by side racing with a full field of 20 cars and 75-lap features.  “The ASA Midwest Tour is a premiere series in this area,” says Owner Ron Wimmer, “We’ve been involved with them for a few years now.  They do a great job with their rules and we are excited to implement them at State Park Speedway.  With longer features we expect to draw a good number of drivers that will put on a good show for the people in the stands.”

As far as support divisions go, State Park Speedway will race a sportsman class, a pure stock class, and a mini-mod 4 cylinder class for all events.  We are also in discussions with the two man cruisers to have them at select races during the 2010 season.

The sportsman class with run based off of the ASA Midwest Tour Sportsman Series’ rules.  The ASA Midwest Tour Sportsman rules are very similar to the previous Wausau Street Stock rules. “We think this is really an up and coming division,” says Scott Wimmer, “With the ASA Midwest Tour adding these guys there seems to be a lot of growing interest in this class.  These rules are so close to the old Street Stock rules that it should be an easy transition.  It was important for us to find something close to those street Stock rules because we hope to have all those guys back again this year.  Along with bringing back the Street Stock guys, we also think this sportsman division will attract new drivers.”

State Park Speedway is excited to bring the Pure Stock class to the track this year.  These rules are based off the rules that are run at nearby tracks Marshfield Motor Speedway and Golden Sands Speedway.  “We hope that some of those guys will come to a few races at Wausau this year,” says Ron Wimmer, “It’s a great, pure, racing class and think it’s a good fit for our program this year.”

For the first time ever State Park Speedway is joining forces with Golden Sands Speedway for a combined mini-mod 4 cylinder point championship.  The class will run eight races at SPS and eight at GSS and come together to crown one overall champion.  Both tracks are please to have Snap On Tools as the sponsor of this year’s mini-mod class and the help in awarding the champion a fully wrapped Snap On Toolbox worth over $600.  “Joe from Snap On has really stepped up again with the mini-mod class,” says Scott Wimmer, “His support of that class has been great and we look forward to working with him this year.  The combined championship is something new for these drivers and we think is something they will look forward to.  This allows them to run multiple tracks and also to race every week.”

The rules posted for the Snap On Mini-Mods are the 2009 rules and serve as a base for the 2010 rules.  We are currently working with Golden Sands Speedway to finalize the 2010 rules and hope to have them out in the next week, but the 2009 rules should serve as a good starting spot for drivers and teams.

Finally SPS is in negotiations with the two man cruiser class to have them at a handful of races this year.  “The two man guys are the perfect close to some shows,” says Ron Wimmer, “The way it works with two guys and how they must work together to get the car around the track is really neat and is a fan favorite.”

All rules for the 2010 season are posted on the State Park Speedway website.  We will continue to go over these rules over the next few weeks so please check back for updates.  Any updates will be in bold on rules sheet.  Please click the rules button on top of page to get all rules information.
