Wausau, WI July 2nd, 2010- Chris Wimmer picks up his first win at State Park Speedway for the 2010 season.  Wimmer, who qualified 7th, began the 75-lap super late model feature from the 4th starting position and worked his way to the front to lead the final 53 laps and take the checkers.  “It’s really exciting,” says Chris Wimmer, “It’s always fun to win races.  My car wasn’t very good all day and we had some problems, but my crew really worked hard on the car and we got it turned around.”

Justin Switlick grabbed the early lead in the All American 75 and held on to it for the first 12 laps, that’s when Jim Duchow used the second groove to take over the lead.  Behind the leaders, Chris Wimmer began to work his way towards the front and with 58 laps to go he moved past Switlick and in to second and set his sights on the leader.  It only took Wimmer five laps to chase down the #12 of Duchow and scoot past him on the inside to take over the top spot.

As Wimmer put some space between himself and the rest of the field current point leader Chris Weinkauf and Jeremy Lepak also made a charge to the front.  Lepak drove his #40 in to the 2nd position before losing it to Weinkauf with a handful of laps left.  A caution with 5 laps to go closed up the field and set the stage for a battle between Wimmer, Weinkauf, and Lepak.

Wimmer got a good restart and held on the top spot, but then, with three laps to go, the caution came out again, and putting Winkauf right on the bumper of Wimmer again.  This time Weinkauf tried to get inside Wimmer as the green flag flew, but Wimmer shut the door and pulled awat from the #99 to  hold on for his first win of the season.

“Chris and I had a good battle,” says Wimmer, “He’s been really good here, he’s won two races, I was able to get out in front, but when those cautions came out I wasn’t sure if he was going to have anything for me.  I’m just really excited to be here in victory lane.”

In the sportsman division Wayne Mackesy picked up his second win of the 2010 season and extends his points lead.

Kyle Gennett picks up his first win of the season in the pure stock class.

Adam Eckes continues to dominate in the Snap-On Mini-Mod division.  He picks up his third straight win and holds a four point lead in the overall standings.  Eckes took the lead on lap 6 from Phil Malouf and landed himself in victory lane.
