Track Facts

State Park Speedway is a ¼ mile racing oval located just outside the city of Wausau in the Town of Rib Mountain.  State Park Speedway takes pride is its history.  For over 35 years guys like Dick Trickle, Dave Marcis, Bobby Allison, Mark Martin, Tom and Bryan Reffner, Jim Back, Marv Marzofka, and Scott and Chris Wimmer have all competed at the track.

Special Events

Flip Merwin Memorial Race

This race was started in 2003 in honor of Flip Merwin, a former snowmobile racer, pit crew worker and race fan who was killed in a snowmobile racing accident in 2003. It has quickly become one of the track's signature events.

Larry Detjens Memorial Race

Started in 1981, the Larry Detjens Memorial race pays tribute to one of the greatest short track racers of his time.  Detjens, a former Wausau short track racing star and 1977 track champion lost his life in a racing accident in 1981 at Wisconsin International Raceway.

Wayne “Lodi” Lodholz Memorial Race

 

The first annual Lodi Memorial Race took place in 2009 to honor a local Wausau racer who unexpectedly lost his life.
