Facts and Information about State Park Speedway...

About the Racetrack
State Park Speedway is a 1/4-mile asphalt stock car racing oval located just south and west of the city of Wausau in the Town of Rib Mountain. One of State Park Speedway's most identifiable characteristics is its history. The 1/4-mile asphalt oval has hosted racing for nearly 40 years and has seen a number of big names race on its surface. Dick Trickle, Dave Marcis, Bobby Allison, Mark Martin, Tom & Bryan Reffner, Jim Back, Marv Marzofka, Janet Guthrie and Scott & Chris Wimmer are just a few of the big names to race at the track over the years.
For 36 years the speedway was in the hands of longtime promoters Phil & Helen Bickley. 2005 was thought to be the last season of the track, as the Bickleys announced they would not renew their lease on the track's land at the end of 2005 and the space was put up for sale. However, Wausau area businessman Todd Handrick purchased the speedway and its surrounding land in December of 2005, and the intent is for racing to continue at the track for years to come.
