SNAPPY JOE WINS FIRST CAREER FEATURE ON SNAP ON NIGHT

BY:CURT KEENE

Wausau, WI (June 19) -        WOW!! Tonight we raced in front of a packed house. Joe "Snappy"  Kuehn has been in business for 20 years with Snap On Tools, and he put on a customer appreciation night at the races for all his dedicated customers, family and friends. To top off the night "Snappy" Joe won his first career feature in the mini stock class after just racing a few events.

Jenny Nitsche and Joe "Snappy" Kuehn brought the mini stocks to the green flag. Nitsche and Joe would stay side by side for several laps. "Snappy" would finally get past Nitsche using the outside groove on lap #9. There was no stopping "Snappy" as he would motor his way to victory on his sponsored night. 20 years of business and picking up his first career feature win in front of his customers. Second place went to John Lietz and third was Dale Louze. Those two teammates came from the back; they drove their wheels off to get to the front but would have to settle for second and third.

The street stock feature was the way it has been all season, "Exciting." Duke Bartelt and "The Relator" Phil Prahl were on the front row. As the green flag dropped Duke Bartelt would be the leader for a short time. His father Brian “Clyde” Bartelt would take over the lead 3 laps later. Brian and Nick Erickson Jr. would put on a driving clinic up front for the lead. Erickson tried everything to get by Bartelt but contact was made in turn #2 causing Brain Bartelt to spin. Caution would come out. With the contact rule both driver's had to start in the back of the pack. So Jim Annala would get a gift, the lead.  Annala would lead back to green. Annala would stay up front driving his Ford to victory. Annala's other teammates Duke Bartelt would take second place with Brain Bartelt finishing third.

Tucker Miller driving the TW Racing Inc. #19th Hole and Tim "Hurricane" Hintz lead the Late Models to green. Hintz would pull Miller on the first lap.  Two laps later Fast timer #14 Wayne Breitenfeldt would get past Hintz on the inside. Breitenfeldt would stretch out his lead. Mark Mackesy would get past Hintz for the second spot. Breitenfeldt's lead was just too big; Mackesy didn't have enough time to catch him. Breitenfeldt would make it two in a row and make tonight a clean sweep. First time Breitenfeldt has done this at SPS, 24 years of racing. Second was Mackesy and third place was Hintz.

In the Mini Mod class Bo “The Show” Bennish would start a half of lap down. Guess what, he ended up catching the leader Ritchie Kersten in 6 laps. Bennish would get by making it a clean sweep also for himself. Second place was Kersten with Phil Malouf finished third.

20 years "Snappy" Joe has been doing business so at the end of the racing program Joe set up a fireworks display for the full house in the stands. Again Thank You for celebrating with Joe at SPS. Nice to see the stands full again at SPS. Also don’t forget about the 6th annual Flip Merwin Memorial race next week, June 26th. On behalf of all the staff and drivers we all cannot thank Joe enough for what he did for tonight’s program as well as a huge Thank You for all the fans that came out to help us celebrate Joe’s 20 Year Snap On Tools Anniversary. All of us at SPS hope to see everyone next week. Until then, feed the beast.
