Erickson Jr. Finally Captures Street Stock Main Event

Wausau, WI (May 22) - Tonight's racing action all eyes were on Dale Louze and Mark Mackesy. These two driver's were going for the three peat in there divisions. Only one of would make it a three peat and that was Mackesy. Nick Erickson Jr. finally would capture a feature win. Erickson came so close the last two weeks but he had no problem tonight. The new father Bo Bennish would win the Mini Mod Feature. Brian Brummond would win his first ever feature in the Mini Stock Division.

    The kids were the make of the front row in the Street Stock feature. Both driver's also have the number #16, Kyle Genett and Duke Bartlelt. Genett would get out front as the green flag was dropped. Genett was the leader for 7 laps. Nick Erickson Jr. who had fast time would drive by Genett for the lead. Jr. had his 73 Monte hooked up tonight. Jr would win by 15 car lengths over Brian Bartlelt. Third would go to Jim Annala.

 

    The Mini Stock Feature was side by side racing for the entire race. Pole Sitter Brian Brummond  and Tim Gorecki would put on a nice race for the fans, trading the lead several times. With 6 laps to go the caution flag would come out when "Snappy" Joe Kuehn made contact with John Lietz. Brummond would lead us back to the green flag.  The next 6 laps would be memorable for Brummond. Brummond would hold onto to win his first ever feature. Second went to Tim Gorecki. Third place was Schult.

 

    From the start of the green flag Ritchie Kersten would have a probelm ending his night. Kersten's car would not come up to speed. Adam Eckes would find his way to the top spot. With 10 laps to go Bo "The Show" Bennish challenged Eckes for the lead. Bennish would use the inside groove to get by Eckes. Bennish would cruise onto win the Mini Mod main. Second would be Adam AKA Ralph Eckes, and third place was The Beast Tucker Miller. It was a special night for Bennish because he became a dad once again on Wednesday. Congrats to Bo and his family. Bennish said in victory lane he would have two cars next week.

 

    Mark Mackesy would make it three in a row in the Late Model class. Mackesy and Breitenfeldt raced neck and neck for several laps. Mackesy once again driving the high line would get past Breitenfeldt for the lead. Mackesy was first, second went to Breitenfeldt, and third was A. J. Kania. 

 

    Next weeks racing action will be Popcorn Palooza night. Popcorn is free all night long. Again support local racing because when it's gone it's gone. Remember tell a friend about the great racing action at SPS. Until next week unleash the beast!!!
