State Park Speedway honored its 2017 champions at an end of the season banquet in December at Dale's Weston Lanes.  Here's what our champions had to say:

MG Gajewski - 2017 Super Late Model Champion
"The banquet was a great night to get back together with fellow racers and have a good time. As far as winning the championship it’s an honor to win one, but it was unbelievable to have won 3. It’s something I’ll cherish forever because they are so hard to get. And of course it wouldn’t be possible without all the crew, sponsors and family. So a big thanks all them!"

Brock Heinrich - 2017 Limited Late Model Champion
"I accomplished one of my life goals. It felt really special, I can only compare it to how a movie star would feel accepting an award at the Oscars. Overall it was a really fun night. It’s one of those things you look forward to for months and won’t forget for the rest of your life."

Travis Volm - 2017 Pure Stock Champion
"Had great time with the crew and family and food was outstanding! Some good music followed. It’s a great honor to be able to be crowned champion. I grew up watching racing there my whole life and had a vision as kid that I would someday be crowned champion at SPS. I’ve had the honor 5 times now. Just make me happy, and shows all the hard work we put in pays off at end of year!!"

George Seliger - 2017 Mini-Mod Champion
"Being honored as a champion isn't just about the races, it's about the friends and family that are there through it all. The banquets at the end of the year are a very good way to bring them people that are most important together because with out the track owners, fans, racers and family none of this would be possible."

Garrett Strachota - 2017 Mini-Stock Champion
"I'm very honored to achieve my dreams of being a champion, especially at the track i grew up watching racing. I appreciate everyone that was involved in helping me reach those goals."

Kolton Guralski - 2017 Bando Champion
"It felt good to win a championship at the track that my dad grew up racing at. It was a fun night hanging out with my bando friends since Hannah and I wont be racing with them anymore. Getting a championship at SPS is something I will never forget. Thank you to all that made it possible."
